1. EVOLUTION! Did you ever feel as though you could change the world? Were you ever told it was too lofty a goal, don't be absurd. Did you ever feel as though you had an answer, but no one would listen? They were too wrapped up in their silly little worlds, Their little fears, their little hurts to understand They had the power of change in their own blood stained hands. Did a tear of resignation ever fall from an angry eye? Did you wipe away frustration from the seeping sty? Your stronghold released against traditions beast. A struggle with old horses gone awry. Didn't have the courage to stand against the mob. Turned away, tail tucked, and sighed a quiet sob. Tried to make a difference, tried to change the world. Idealism shatters as your fight is never heard. CHORUS: To say what needs to be said requires . . . CONSTITUTION! To stand up to ideas that are dead requires . . . RESOLUTION! To break apart the granite walls, takes a REVOLUTION! Baby, an EVOLUTION OF THE MIND! Boys, pack up your toys, there's got to be a better way. Why do you need all that blood on your hands, anyway? It's easy to hide behind a veil of what has been, Rather than take a step forward to wage the war within. We can use our brains; we can use our minds. We can feel compassion; we can start by being kind To each other, baby, we can love one another. But that takes an evolution of the mind! REPEAT CHORUS Change, that's the name of the game. Change, we've got to change ourselves. Revolution, Evolution is the only solution. Change, to change the world takes each and every one. I think it's time for an EVOLUTION OF THE MIND! I think it's time for an EVOLUTION OF THE MIND!
2. FLY, FLY AWAY #10 on Mp3.com SoftRock My first Christmas Eve with you . . . what was I to do When the phone call came but start to cry, Because I knew, I knew what was going on between her and you. I made the accusation, you denied it with your fist. My head hit the table. I lost consciousness. CHORUS: Although I fight with all my might I'm going down, down, down onto the ground. Not another soul can hear the sound, sound, sound Of my screams as the pain sears through my body. I'm ripped in two, what can I do but fly, fly away. Fly away. I tried to make it to the door, You pushed my face into the floor. My limbs were paralyzed beneath you, You whispered hate into my ears. You said you were teaching me a lesson, Showing me you were a "Real Man," (What a joke!) I prayed, "Sweet Jesus, let this be a bad dream." Then an angel came and took me away. Although I fight with all my might I'm going down, down, down onto the ground. Not another soul can hear the sound, sound, sound, Of my screams as the pain sears through my body. I'm ripped in two, what can I do, do, do? But fly, fly away. Fly away . . . Ooooo I'm gonna fly, fly away. Fly, fly away.

WILDERNESS As a child I'd wander through the forest, almost any time of year. I used to sit for hours watching wild flowers as they danced when a light breeze blew in--kissing the wind. You can take me to the meadow to lay beneath the clouds rolling by, Or we can soak in the starlight as the moon flickers in our eyes; But you can't take the forest out of me. No, you can't take the wilderness out of me. In my youth I found the ocean, a kindred spirit in the sand. I used to walk cold November shores in the darkest hours, drinking in its power as it called my name-- as if it were me it wanted to reclaim. You can take me to the ocean to lay beneath the clouds rolling by, Or we can soak in the starlight as the moon flickers in our eyes; But you can't take the ocean out of me. No, you can't take the wilderness out of me. As a woman I climbed a mountain to see what was on the other side. I reached the top and I heard the sound of distant thunder, and to my wonder there were mountains as far as the eye could see, and I laughed . . . isn't that how my life can sometimes be? Well, you can take me to the mountains to lay beneath the clouds rolling by, Or we can soak in the starlight as the moon flickers in our eyes; But you can't take the mountains out of me. No, you can't take the wilderness out of me.
MEMORARE (pronounced mem-o-rar-ee, a Catholic prayer for the Virgin Mary) Hey Mary, can you hear me? I'd like to have a little talk with you, so won't you walk with me in my Garden of Serenity. Hm, Hm, Hm, Hm Well Mary, a dear old friend of mine tells me you are her Hope Divine, so she gave me this prayer to recite, despite the fact that memorizing is not my way (you see I'm into broader concepts these days). Hm, Hm, Yeah, Yeah. Well I'll always be a sinner, but I have this calling calling me so I decided to write my own Memorare. Chorus: Mother Mary, Full of Grace, can you help me? Oh Mary, don't mind my disgrace, can you help me? Can you help me reach the stars? Can you save me from the bars, and the smoke and the times that I toke when my world is falling apart? When my world is falling apart . . . Hm, Hm, Yeah, Yeah. Hey Mary, were you once like me before they sat you at the left hand of God? Did you ask Him to come to you before He came to you? Hm, Hm, Yeah, Yeah. Well you know I'm not a Catholic--I don't subscribe to that creed. You see I don't practice sectarianism but I've got this deep, deep need to rid the world of its disease, so I wrote my own Memorare. Repeat Chorus Mother, can you hear me? Mother, can you hear me? Mother, can you hear me? Mother Mary, Full of Grace, can you help us? Oh Mary, don't mind our disgrace, can you help us? Can you help us learn to love life? Can you save us from the knives and the guns and the wars that we've won when all we really did was lose? Mother can you help us to choose?
RED WINGED BLACKBIRD Red winged blackbird, singing way up high in the sky, Nature's Girl stands below with a teardrop in her eye. You say, "Here is a child whose heart is singing freedom's song." They throw stones as she smiles at the poor delusioned throng. Those who cannot hear the song have suffered hard and suffered long. With broken wings they carry on the burdens of a world gone wrong. But she is here to light the way to the promise of a coming day. She wants to soar like the eagle in search of its prey. She wants to dive like the seagull through the ocean spray. She wants to flutter and fly like a butterfly on a sunny summer's day. She wants to be as free as that blackbird singing up in that tree, But every time she turns around, someone's trying to clip her wings. Pathological personalities in power trying to strip the dreams from children with their evil thoughts and schemes and killing machines. There's a change comin' 'round. The walls will come tumblin' down. Out of the shadows of the old will come a light that shines of gold. A new creation will unfold and peace will reign a thousand years. And when these things have come to pass, we all will be set free at last. So we can soar like the eagle in search of its prey. So we can dive like the seagull through the ocean spray. So we can flutter and fly like the butterfly on a sunny summer's day. So we can be as free as that blackbird singing up in that tree. And even when we touch the ground, no one tries to clip our wings. Red winged blackbird, singing way up high in the sky. Nature's girl stands below with a twinkle in her eye. You say, "Here is a child whose heart is singing freedom's song-- A candlelight in darkened night, waiting for a new age dawn."
SIGH Sigh . . . It's the only way to die. The last deep breath just before a death. Sigh . . .It's the only way to fly toward the star whether near or far. But life . . .Is more than human strife, it's a gift--don't die before you've lived. I know that you are lonely and you're scared. I understand the burdens that you bear. I've hear the silent roar of your hopeless despair. I feel because I too had once been there. But in this world of endless roller coaster rides, and carousels turn seasons of our lives, We have to choose how we will spend our little time, We can close our eyes and scream or simply sigh and love the ride. . . Sigh . . .
DUST DEVIL MAN Driving the desert highway as the Santa Ana's blow, I thought I'd do things my way out where the Joshua Trees blow. I traveled through painted canyons as a fall rain fell far away. I smelled the spice from the mountains and I thought I might like to stay. Chorus: Oh, but desert nights can be so cold when dust devil man owns your soul. Dust devil man, taking me for a ride in your whirlwind. With sand in my eyes I could not see through your disguise, Dust Devil Man. I watch the desert sunset blazing 'cross the sky. I view the hazy mountains through the tears in my eyes. A sandstorm surrounds me, yeah--blocking out the sun. I got lost in the desert because I didn't try to run. Repeat Chorus
TIMELESS Tower bells hang in silent sleep waiting for to chime Until the day his love to keep sings sweet her song and rhyme. La da da dee dah, la da dah. Love's eternal bond. Of all the loves he ever had, he loved her most of all. Rivers of rainbows casting life as stained light pours to stone, Reviving painted butterflies upon their ceiling home. La da da dee dah, la da dah. Love's eternal bond. Of all the loves she ever had, she lover him most of all. Logos dreams by his fireside as slothful time doth pass, Visions of his love divine in futures and in pasts. La da da dee dah, la da dah. Love's eternal bond. Of all the loves he ever had, he loved her most of all. Coffined books of necromancers held for future eyes Keep knowings of their dead creators, clans of the ancient wise. La da da dee dah, La da dah. Love's eternal bond. Of all the loves she ever had, she loved him most of all. He will take her to a castle, to murky lake-bound shores There they'll sing to mythic monsters, folk tales of magic lore. La da da dee dah, La da dah. Love's eternal bond. The timeless love they always shared was music and the song.
FOUND MY WAY There was a time when I said good-bye to put a childhood lost behind me. Maybe we were just too young, I thought you'd at least try to stop me. But as the years went by, you never left my soul, you never left my mind. My love for you had never died--I could not put you behind me. Chorus: So I found my way back home again. Oh I found my way back into your arms again. I'll stay as long as you'll have me--just don't push me away. Oh my friend, it's good to be back home again. You make me fly on the wings of the mornin' sun. You make me smile in the evenin' when our day is done. Oh my lover, my friend, it's good to be back home again. Oh my friend, it's good to be back home again. Repeat Chorus Well it's good to be, yes it's good to be back home again. I found my way, yes I found my way back home. Oh I found my way back home again. All lyrics and music copyright 1997, Pamela West Superconscious Psychobabble Publishing, ASCAP All rights reserved, Printed in the U.S.A.
