PRESS BIO:
A WHIRLING DERVISH-STYLE EXPLOSION OF FEROCIOUS GRACE
Ohio native "Angel" Pam West has been making quite a stir in the Midwest and
beyond since her 1997 CD release "Evolution."
Originally trained in classical music on instruments ranging from piano to
bassoon, this singer-songwriter return to the early days of art rock when
bands like Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and Traffic turned down the amps and
explored the possibilities of acoustic instruments, folklore and mysticism.
Her live performances are packed with a passion and intensity compared to
that of Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin, and she is known to change effortlessly
from one instrument and musical style to the next-classical piano to jazz
bassoon, an array of flutes to 6 and 12 string guitars in alternate tunings,
eastern worldbeat to midwestern grainbelt boogie and blues.
Known as a musician's musician, teacher, healer, and social activist, West
has performed her wild and eclectic brand of "Rock n' Ethereal Soul" both
nationally and internationally, spreading a message of hope and transcendence
through music and education. She has collaborated with world-renown artists
Michael Quatro (Classical Rock artist, Keith Christopher (Kenny Wayne
Shepherd & Georgia Satellites), new age artist SKY, sat in with Buddy Miles
(Santana & Jimi Hendrix), and performed for Robert Plant while on tour in
1998.
Pamela West currently resides in New York City and is working on several new
musical projects, including her first "Concept Album for Kids" with
accompanying book. Her CDs "Evolution" and "Dweller on the Threshold" are
available at CDBaby.com.
"Dazzles with a display of musical brilliance." Current Magazine, Ann Arbor,
MI
"West's voice is extraordinarily beautiful…less proves to be more. Creative,
artsy stuff delivered as deeply symbolic and meaningful brainfood." Scene
Magazine, Cleveland, OH
"The music caresses and drives the passionate lyrics into the listener's
soul. With stylings ranging from driving rock to diva-esque pop, the
diversity and feelings let you experience, not merely listen to the music."
Music Morsels, Atlanta, GA

A quick Note from Haley-O www.moondancejam.com
'We are proud to announce that that Pamela West , who was interviewed 1
month ago ( and can be listened to from the archive list ) has been
signed to perform at Moondance Jam music festival in July ! It's going
to be a big one ! So far over 50,000 tickets sold !
----- CONGRATULATIONS PAM !!! ------
Maybe we can get her to sit in at the show when "Part of the Tribe" plays !!!'
MINNESOTA'S MOONDANCE JAM
Last week, the wonderful and talented Halie O interviewed me for a feature
spot on Moondancejam.com. You can check out this hour-long interview
starting December 24th. It will run for two weeks and then will be available
via the archives. Since the show is currently looking at national
syndication, the interview may pop up in the future as well! We talked about
a lot of great issues, including music therapy, my vision for the future of
music, stage fright, some of the inspirations for songs on "Dweller on the
Threshold," and a bit about my musical history, including the Army Band and
bassoon/orchestra days. I think we played 6 songs from Dweller and 1 from
Evolution as well. Check it out under the Halie O' on the Go section:
http://www.moondancejam.com/
There's also talk about having me as a solo performer in the VIP tent and
Moondance Saloon at this year's festival in July. So far, the confirmed
headliners include Paul Rodgers with Bad Company & Free and Eric Burdon and
the Free Animals.
On Saturday, December 4th, Amish country native Pamela West will celebrate
the release of her second CD, "Dweller on the Threshold" at the Gypsy Cafe in
Ann Arbor, MI from 8:00 pm until midnight. Tickets will be $5 at the door,
or $3 with student ID. Special guest is award winning guitarist/songwriter
Jere Stormer.
Pam and her jam rock band from Ohio (Chris Frohring, Erik Diaz, Tim Koehler,
and Pom Fountain) will be performing the entire CD, in addition to old and
new material from other collaborations. The group's music is eclectic and
improvisational, exploring jazz, progressive, classic rock, orchestral and
psychedelic pop elements reminiscent of the British invasion of the late
60's, with a quirky, new millennium twist. West's albums have received rave
reviews nationally and internationally with airplay on four continents.
Thanks to a strong Internet following, several of her songs have hit #1 on
the MP3.com charts.
Special guest Jere Stormer's set promises to deliver a peculiar punchbowl of
outrageous and wonderfully uninhibited musicianship. Stormer is described as
a free-range musician whose music is wildly eclectic, fiercely played, and
can occasionally make you laugh out loud. He channels heavy-metal bluegrass
bands, sings about bebop musicians who wrestle, writes fang-in-cheek songs
about vampires, does a delta blues about virtual realty, and presents the
only known telepathic audience participation song in America.
For more information, please contact the Gypsy Cafe at 734-994-3940 (located
at 214 N. 4th Ave in downtown Ann Arbor), or visit Pam West's website at:
